BizarroMFFL

Tired of your fantasy team underperforming every year? Sick of your first round pick putting up next to nothing? Does your QB score more off the field than on it?

I may have the solution for you.

BizarroMFFL, where the object is to score the fewest points.

Players scoring zero would be subjected to a point penalty, so you would have to start actual players, not announcers, but other than that you're looking for low points.

Any interest?

Tony Romo

After all negative stories we hear about athletes it's nice to once in awhile read something positive.

Tony Romo buys movie ticket for homeless man

Earlier this year there was a story about Romo helping a couple change a tire after a game.

It's refreshing to see a genuinely nice guy succeed in a league filled spoiled narcissists. You may not like his team, or his girlfriend, but it's hard not to like Tony Romo.

Please Vote

I'd like to take this time to remind everyone to vote on, or before, this Tuesday.

I don't care... well, I do care who you vote for, but more important than that I care that you cast a ballot for anyone.

My biggest hope for the next four years is to bridge the divide between people of different ideologies, so that we can disagree on how to approach our nation's problems without resorting to aspersions on each others character.

Calling someone a traitor, or a terrorist, or any other inflammatory label over political differences needlessly keeps wounds open, and diminishes the meaning of those terms for those who actually deserve them.

I'm not alone...

From Espn.com re: Ronnie Brown:
"The point is, don't feel bad if you're in that group of just about everyone -- 84 percent of Brown's ESPN standard league owners -- who had him on their bench Sunday. I did, too. Really, in a way you had to be a bit desperate to activate him, maybe dealing with injuries or game-time decisions or those other strugglers. Brown is owned in 96 percent of leagues, but was active in only 16 percent. Rather than blame yourself for a foolish decision, call it one of those things impossible to predict."

Yeah, that makes me feel better. NOT.

FOXBOROUGH, MA -- More than 90 percent of female football fans were lost for the season on Sunday when New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a left knee injury that will require extensive treatment. The Patriots announced Monday that Brady, the 2007 NFL Most Valuable Player and arguably the NFL's most handsome man, will be placed on injured reserve, where despite being no less attractive than before his injury, he will only be partially visible for the rest of the 2008-2009 season.

On Trades

I'm speaking here as an owner, not the commissioner.

I realize not all of you are active in making trades, but I wanted to go on record on a few issues and my outlook on them in the hopes that by raising some concerns I might be able to increase the likelihood of future transactions.

As I see it owners develop trading relationships. I have several people I go to first with trades because I know they will work with me to create a deal that helps both teams if it's possible.

Some things that encourage deals:

1. Timely responses
There's nothing that will kill a deal faster than to have it offered and sit there. And sit there. And sit there. Did the recipient see it? Did they hate it? Are they waiting to do research? I have no idea, but until they respond I'm stuck here waiting. Don't like the deal, but might want to do something in the future? Respond quickly. A private message saying why would also be nice.

Now, I can hear some of you thinking, "Ah, I'll leave offers hanging out there to inhibit trades with other teams." This may help you in the short term (or not), but long term it discourages trade offers.

2. Counter offers
I always try to make my first offer reasonable (see below, Things that kill deals), but it shouldn't always be taken as the end of negotiations. I'm often, though not always, willing to spice up a deal in some way.

3. Past trust
Making a good deal (for both sides) means I'm likely to come to you first in the future.

Things that kill deals:

1. Lopsided offers
Don't offer me two scrubs for Tomlinson, and I won't offer you an announcer for Brady. All that does is lead to distrust of later offers.

2. Lack of communication
I offered you a package, and you rejected it. Was it because you hated the deal and would never part with the players involved? Did you not like the player I offered, but with a different configuration you might accept a trade? Did your ex-girlfriend steal your MFFL login and reject a good trade out of spite? I have no way of knowing since you never went beyond clicking reject. Let me know so I can make you another offer (or make it yourself) or move on to another team.
