Pre-season Notes

A few things to cover before we enter game week.

If you have not already done so please login and enter your correct contact information in the Profile section of My Team. This information is only viewable by other team owners and administrators, not the general public.

While you're logged in to do that, why not go ahead and submit your lineup just to make sure the process works for you? You can change players in and out right up until their game kicks off, so there's really nothing to lose. Remember, the Rules Council will take swift action should you fail to submit a lineup for week one.

For anyone who is interested I can provide you a free @mffl.net email address. I personally find it helpful to keep my league email separate from my work and personal mail. This address can be totally separate from your current address or I can have mail sent to it forwarded.

It's possible we may have a call for a vote for a change that would take effect for the 2010 season prior to the kickoff of game one, but that remains uncertain at this time.

New! Improved!

New feature: Live chat with other logged in users on the Scoreboard page. There are still a few display kinks to be worked out, but it's working for the most part.

Edited to add: Thanks to a great idea and request by Kevin I have added another new feature. In the footer of every page on the site is now information about what users are logged in.

Also, I am aware the blog commenting is broken. Fixing that is next on my agenda.

Support

At the bottom of every page on the site you'll find the support section. If you're going to make a purchase at Amazon clicking through the link here will earn the league a small percentage of your purchase. This helps defray the costs associated with running the league, and it's very much appreciated.

Similarly, if you're looking to play some poker online you can link to Full Tilt Poker and they will contribute a percentage back.

And if you're feeling extra generous you can purchase a gift for your Commissioner through the Amazon Wish List.

Edited to add: If you need web hosting consider BlueHost. By buying through the link here I receive an affiliate reward.

Injury Display

I've modded the site so players who appear on the NFL Injury Report will display an icon next to their name. Clicking the icon will pop up a window to give you details on the player's status.

Please note: While I have populated the database with injury information that is current as of this moment I cannot test the importation of the new data that will be released until it happens. So, for the time being, please do not use this information as your definitive source.

Let me know if you have any problems.

M.R.9 - Call for Votes

We have a call for votes.

Since this proposed rule change for next year could change how you manage your team this season the Rules Council has decided that it should be voted on prior to kickoff of week one. Please note that if adopted, your fantasy dollars from this season would not rollover to 2010.

Just to reiterate: This rule change would take effect for the 2010 season.

If at all possible please vote before kickoff of the game on Thursday, or at the latest before the week's games are complete.

M.R.9 Rewrite free agent bidding section to incorporate real money bidding
Regular league dues would drop from $85 to $80. Fantasy dollar free agent bidding would be replaced by actual money, with a $20 cap. This would make the maximum investment $100 if you use your entire cap. The minimum investment would raise $5 from our current dues to $90, due to the rollover and refund rules detailed below. Prize payouts would be adjusted to percentages roughly equal to their current value to reflect the unknown total prize pool.

Free Agent Bidding (changes only)
ARTICLE 4. a. Each team has $20 in free agent cap space per season. This $20 will be pre-paid to the league treasurer prior to the start of the season.

h. Minimum bid for any free agent claim is 25¢, with 5¢ increments. (i.e., 55¢ is a legal bid. 57¢ is not. 20¢ is also illegal.)

i. Free agent cap space is a commodity and is tradable.

j. $10 of your $20 cap is non-refundable. This portion of the cap will be added to the prize pool regardless of use. $5 of the remaining cap may be rolled over to the following season. Any balance remaining will be credited to the owner.

Week One Status Report

With the bulk of Week One's action complete, I'm declaring the new web site a success. I've made one small tweak to the scoreboard page, changing the green highlight text to red so it will be more visible.

If anyone had any problems please let me know.

I'll be working over the next few days to finish the blog template issues.

Please note: There aren't a lot of close games this week, so it's unlikely to make a difference in any outcomes, but the NFL releases official game statistics on Tuesday which often cause small changes in the preliminary scores, particularly among defenses.

Edit: Adjustments are in, four teams gained one point.
